Edinburgh Low Emission Zone - Our New Removal Lorries are LEZ compliant

As we get ready for the upcoming Edinburgh LEZ zone, Blackhall Moving & Storage have added two new 18 ton, Euro 6 low emission trucks to our expanding fleet.

The Edinburgh Low Emission Zone (LEZ) covers most of the city centre, including much of the New Town, Old Town, Meadows, Southside and Royal Mile. The Edinburgh Low Emission Zone start date is 1 June 2024. From that day, vehicles must meet strict emission standards or face paying a daily charge when driving within the zone. Fines of up to £480 will be payable by any non-compliant vehicles which drive into the LEZ. The Low Emission Zone will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This map shows the boundary of the Edinburgh Low Emission Zone, starting on 1 June 2024. The LEZ includes Old Town, New Town to Queen Street, East End, Royal Mile, The Meadows and North Bridge / South Bridge, all the way to Newington.

Why we insisted on LEZ compliant removal lorries

By investing in these new low emission LEZ compliant removal lorries, Blackhall Moving and Storage have ensured that we'll be able to move freely throughout every town and city in the UK, including removals within the Edinburgh Low Emission Zone (LEZ), and removals to and from London's ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone).

As well as helping to improve air quality and reduce pollution, being allowed to enter Low Emission Zones will keep our prices low, and minimise any disruption to your house move.

Lower fuel costs mean savings for our removal customers

Being a bit of a truck obsessive, our owner Simon Munro is delighted to add these new vehicles to our fleet. Within the industry, the DAF XF is viewed as the benchmark for fuel efficient long-distance transport.

These lez compliant trucks come with the very latest engine and gearbox technology, and advanced aerodynamic features. As well as reducing air pollution and noise, these new removal lorries are highly fuel efficient. Lower operating costs for us mean that we can pass the savings onto our removals customers.

What's more, we've had them custom built from the chassis up to our exact specification, We've used all our knowledge of removals to maximise space, and provide all the cubby holes, and fixings for hooks and straps to keep each load secure.

What are Low Emission Zones

Low Emission Zones are being introduced to cities across the country, in a bid to improve air quality and help to protect public health. LEZ's are areas of a city which the the most polluting vehicles will not be permitted to enter into.

Which UK cities have Low Emission Zones?
